The Manipur High Court has postponed the upcoming Census exercise in the state, which was set to begin on September 1 amid protests by civil society groups demanding the updation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) before the exercise.
The decision was taken after a special hearing of the court on Monday.
The house-listing exercise, which was supposed to start on August 17, has also been put on hold till further notice from the Registrar General of India.
