Hyatt has been rolling out “enhancements” to its ever “evolving” program this year, and there are more disastrous announcements coming before the year is over, as surveys have suggested (read more here). The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has confirmed that it will move to a city-wide accommodation tax system that is based on a 3-percentage basis for hotel rates exceeding 13,000 Yen, starting April 2027. This new tax rate replaces the static 200 Yen per person currently levied and will obviously increase expected tax revenue significantly, since 3% of the base rate is much higher than 200 Yen (or even 400 Yen). Alaska Airlines’ latest Buy Miles Mystery Bonus Sale for 2026 with up to a 100% bonus ends tomorrow (July 5). Alaska Airlines joined the Oneworld alliance in March 2021, and you can redeem miles with all Oneworld airlines. Hilton partnered with Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) back in 2024, a collection of small, independent hotels with their own loyalty club. Hilton began rolling out SLH hotels to its platform in stages in June 2024, and the rollout was completed in late 2025, with approximately 403 (now 549 or so) participating SLH hotels bookable through Hilton. Italy’s air transport sector will be in complete chaos on Sunday (July 5, 2026) due to strikes by several employee groups for the entire day, although all flights scheduled to operate between 7 AM and 10 AM and 6 PM – 9 PM are protected, as are most long-haul flights and select flights to/from the islands. Germany’s Payback program is currently running a bonus transfer campaign where you can earn a 10% bonus for points transfer to Lufthansa Miles & More through July 31, 2026. World of Hyatt has offered 500 bonus points per night for stays at select new hotels for quite some time. The selection changes monthly as hotels come online (and some openings are delayed). Lufthansa’s Miles&More program has an unusual way of selling miles, attempting to disguise it as a bundle when the other components don’t make much sense. You can purchase up to 250,000 miles in a calendar year using bundles, excluding the bonus. The July offer is valid through the end of the month and comes with up to a 50% bonus, likely only open for members who have not purchased these previously. Airlines are selling their miles through several “venues,” and one of them is this Point.com’s Multiply Your Miles module that allows you to “boost” miles that you have recently earned. Air France-KLM Flying Blue now allows you to boost the miles that you have earned between January 1 and May 31, 2026, by up to 16X and 50% bonus until June 30, 2026. Air Serbia, which has used Etihad Guest as its frequent-flier program since 2013, has now launched its own program, Elevate. Elevate promises to match your Etihad Guest status and miles that you have earned over the past 12 months (unclear if all or only those earned on Air Serbia flights).
