Lucy Dacus, The Last Dinner Party, This Is Lorelei, & More Pick Their Favorite Album Of 2026 So Far
Last week the Stereogum staff listed our picks for the year's best albums so far. A few weeks earlier, during our visit to Salt Lake City for Kilby Block Party, our team posed the question to some of our favorite artists at the fest. Kilby performers including Lucy Dacus, the Last Dinner Party, This Is Lorelei, Ben Kweller, Cardinals, and more weighed in with their own 2026 album recommendations. (Isaac Brock opted out because he exists outside of time. The universe is shaped exactly like the Ea

Sari Lightman – “Give It All Up”
Last month Sari Lightman of Tasseomancy and Lightman & Lightman made her solo debut with "The Way I Saw You." The lead single serves as the magical title track of her forthcoming album, which is produced by Meg Duffy. Now the Canadian indie musician is unveiling another beautiful preview with "Give It All Up."

Hovvdy – “Blast”
I don't think of Hovvdy as a band where the singer holds a microphone, which is to say I don't think of core duo Will Taylor and Charlie Martin as frontmen in the classic sense. The band's music feels too insular and introverted for that kind of showmanship. I think of these guys holding instruments when they sing, not really commanding my attention, letting the song do the talking. But they're changing my perception with this new album rollout.

Sylvan Esso – “Hot Slob”
I think of Sylvan Esso as a synth-driven project, so it's interesting to hear them launch into a new era with such a guitar-driven song.

Snag – “Unarrest Me”
In about one month, Milwaukee screamo champions Snag will release All The Cages Holding Us Will One Day Turn To Dust, their first album for the great Deathwish label. I have heard All The Cages..., and there's a whole lot of jagged passion at work on that record. You might've heard some of it in lead single "Debilitated," and you might hear more of it in album opener "Unarrest Me."

Bad Bad Hats & Party Nails Launch New Band Megasound, Announce Self-Titled Debut
New indie-pop supergrou alert! Since 2012, Kerry Alexander and Chris Hoge have been the main members of the cult-favorite Minneapolis group Bad Bad Hats. Last year, they released a 10th-anniversary version of their debut album Psychic Reader, with a bonus LP over other bands covering their stuff. Other bands were down to participate, and the list of contributors included Ratboys, the Front Bottoms, Hippo Campus, and Party Nails, the one-woman project from LA-based musician Elena Carroll. Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds Kick Off European Tour With Live Rarities, Pogues Cover
On Wednesday night, Knick Cave — sorry. My head is elsewhere this morning. Nick Cave. You know I saw Nick Cave play Madison Square Garden once? The only time that the White Stripes played the world's most famous arena was in 2007, and they booked Cave's band Grinderman and the late country legend Porter Wagoner as their openers. That was a good night at the Garden. It probably wasn't as good as last night at the Garden, but it was still good.

The Strokes Push Back Album, Announce Hometown Show With Beach House, TV On The Radio, & Fcukers
The Strokes have some good news and some bad news for you. Bad news first: You'll have to wait longer for Reality Awaits. The band's first album in six years was scheduled for release June 26, but a new press release today indicates the band has pushed it back by four weeks. It will now be released on July 24. Maybe they're busy erasing all of Nick Valensi's parts?
